Finding a happy lifestyle balance can be a challenge for new mums. Your time is precious and the focus is all on your baby. Often the needs of you and other family members come way down the list.

Your body needs a certain amount of downtime to maintain a healthy immune system and for you to feel happy. It may take some organising, but your body will thank you for any time you can find to relax.

Have time away from your baby - it doesn’t have to be long - and do the things that make you feel good. Make the most of family and friends and don’t feel bad for asking for time to yourself - it’s normal and essential.

Work the things that are important to you into your weekly schedule. Make downtime a top priority.

Follow these tips for a well balanced life as a new mum.

Set aside time to play with your other children.

Take your partner on a date and enjoy some quality time together.

Catch up with friends - you don’t have to head out, you could just have them over for lunch.

Take time out to flick through a magazine, meditate or do some stretches – even 15 minutes will give you a lift.

Grab your Mountain Buggy® and head out – experts recommend at least 15 to 20 minutes of exercise four times a week.
