As I say so often, exercising is free! All you need is the motivation to get going! Unfortunately this is something we all, at one time or another suffer from - lack of motivation. So how do you stay focussed, how do you overcome that voice in your head that says, "ah I donʼt feel like it", "ah Iʼll do it tomorrow", or later in the day (which as you and I both know... it never happens!) By Kristen Horler, CEO & Founder of Baby Boot Camp www.babybootcamp.com You probably already know that regular exercise is important for you both mentally and physically. The great news is that research now shows that exercise can reduce your risk of breast cancer too. Exercise not only improves quality of life, but it also helps breast cancer survivors lead a more active life by improving the ability to perform daily activities and reduce cancer-related fatigue. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to share some tips to help you reduce your risk of breast cancer.
Lila took her first plane ride last week from one side of Pennsylvania to the other. Much shorter than her siblings first plane trips which were to Egypt and Korea and no passport required. She, like her sister was awake the whole ride (both ways), but was pretty happy for the flight. No troubles with her ears and we had empty seats next to us as well. The reason for the flight, was to help my friend, Heather, get ready for birth.
By guest blogger Karen Jones We've been going for a walks to the playground and beach most mornings since we got our new pram. This used to be an occasional treat for the Apple Blossom Daycare children as it used to be a lot of work getting them all there but now thanks to the Duet and Freerider its an easy and pleasant walk. Summer would not be complete without our visits to our local nursery and pet store! Beach properties in Hermosa Beach don't often afford you the luxury of gardens or grass for that matter, but we got lucky with a little patch of grass in front of our house and just enough room to plant flowers. Go England! Go England! I know we live in America, and are absolutely thrilled about living in Hermosa Beach, California but before, during and after the Olympics we are still English at heart! The girls decided they wanted to be patriotic and put on their matching England outfits for a stroll down to the beach. Hermosa Beach is always such a fun place to be in the summer! You can't beat those surfer dudes waiting to catch that perfect wave (my husband included), our neighbours in other cities leaving the hot weather inland to enjoy a cool, breezy beach day, the oversea tourists stopping by after they have seen Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive to see what all the fuss is about, and the locals walking along the strand with their children, friends and pets. According to a study published in the July 2012 Journal of Physical Activity and Health, when parents increase their activity levels, so do their children. Running outside with your children in tow not only helps you achieve your own fitness goals, it encourages kids to be active. Fitting in running while raising small children can be challenging, but with a little preparation and patience you can achieve your running goals in no time. How has it been 6 months since Lila was born? I don't know. How have I avoided regular exercise (chasing kids does not count)? Well, it seems to be my pattern to be lost in baby land and wake up 6 months later. I have lost all the baby weight. Thank you, fast metabolism + breastfeeding. However, breastfeeding may help with the fat, but not the flab. So, I have decided that it is time to get active again. |
