Our legacy began in 1992, with a father's need to create a buggy with all terrain agility, to enable him to enjoy the New Zealand mountain trails with his baby. So with precision engineering he crafted the foundations of Mountain Buggy’s legendary platform.
The design and technology of our platform has evolved over the years to a deliberate design aesthetic influenced by clean lines and functional style.
From newborn to toddler, the mountain trails to the city streets – Mountain Buggy enables parents to live a life without limit.

phil&teds Most Excellent Buggy Company comprises a collection of brands, including: phil&teds, Mountain Buggy, and Mokopuna Merino.
The spirit of our original design lives on in our beautifully designed buggies of today, which remain true to our DNA:
adaptability From newborn to toddler, the mountain trails to the city streets – Mountain Buggy enables parents to live a life without limit. Our buggies, carrycots, travel systems, accessories and the freerider are flexible to accommodate different families with different needs.
simplicity The design and technology of our platform has evolved over the years to a deliberate design aesthetic influenced by clean lines and functional style.
durability With New Zealand’s rugged terrain as our constant inspiration, our buggies have always been engineered tough. We have a great reputation for durable, hard wearing buggies that just keep going... and going.
maneuverability Our buggies design offers uncompromised maneuvrability across all terrain with better tolerance of uneven surfaces and one hand control.
our environment
environment
We are conscious of our footprint and continue to take measures to review our processes, materials and engineering.
All our materials are carefully selected to minimise impact on the environment with over 90% of all materials recyclable.
We test for toxicity, flammability, cadmium, lead and all parts are free of asbestos.
our mark of quality
our mark of quality
The design and technology of our buggies has evolved over the years, and our desire to produce premium products has led to high quality material selection, innovative engineering processes and a vigorous testing programme that includes exceeding all mandatory tests for worldwide safety standards.
We are committed to providing consumers with a buggy they can rely on for years to come; here are some examples of our mark of quality.
High quality material selection
high quality Nylon 6 (PA6) engineering polymer is used to ensure good reliability and strength.
lightweight 6063 T5 Aluminium tubing is used throughout for its superb dynamic properties.
steel blind rivets are employed to guarantee strong holding, resisting the shear forces involved in even the toughest conditions.
Innovative engineering processes
CNC controlled mandrel bending to give the frame optimal strength, and as a consequence the framework has smooth contours making the complete design look aesthetically sharp.
modular, socketed construction gives an excellent strength to weight ratio, plus easy maintenance when necessary.
We are proud of our proven track record and perform vigorous testing to guarantee our precision engineering, tough frame structure and identify the most durable materials available.
Our testing programme includes all mandatory safety standards as well as many of our own tests, including:
irregular surface test
This is an extension of the EN standard irregular surface test: focused on durability and endurance of frame, fabric, and tyres. We have enhanced the test by pushing our buggies longer and further, with increased obstacles and weights.
Durability
Strength & Endurance
EN: 4 x obstacles per cycle 360,000 obstacles
Mountain Buggy: 6 x obstacles per cycle 1,050,000
EN: 288.000km
Mountain Buggy: 750km
tyre testing
To ensure that you have the most durable tyres on your buggy, we continue to undergo puncture resistance testing and tread wear resistance on all our tyres.
stair ascent
We have developed a vigorous test to prove the strength and durability of the frame and handle adjustors.
climatic testing
With our buggies being sold from equator to pole, many will be forced under some extreme temperature conditions. To prove we can handle anything, we have tested the standards tests below within extreme temperatures of 140°F to -4°F.
