I get by with a little help from my friends...

Lisa Jaggi (Toddler)
As I had a pretty painless pregnancy with my first child, I made the mistake of assuming that life would be breezy with the second. Yep, almost 12 weeks into it, and I have a new best friend…the toilet bowl. I’ve also just reached that “I feel fat…but don’t yet look pregnant” phase, my hair is lank, my skin pasty, and my hormone flooded body constantly reminds me that it would prefer to remain horizontal as opposed to chasing around after my adorable but very busy toddler.
This week I have taken up a bed in the haven that I call ‘home’ down in Wellington, with my Mum bringing me cups of tea and dry toast in bed in the morning to keep the waves of nausea at bay (a task often preformed by my husband at home). My little man is kept occupied by doting grandparents, and I get some time to put myself back together.
It’s times like these you realise how important support from your family and friends is. If there is something I have learnt in the last couple of months, it is that with the responsibility of ‘baking this baby’, also comes the responsibility of learning to accept help when it’s offered, and what is sometimes even harder, asking for help when it’s needed!
