On Swiss Time

Lisa Jaggi (Toddler)
“Hoi zaeme!” (That’s “Hi Everyone!” in Swiss German).
I’d love to speak to the person who decided that children under two do not require their own plane seat….that person clearly did not have a wriggling 13kg toddler sitting on their lap, who when finally decides to fall asleep …loves to stretch out and inhabit all available space!!!! Although Tarn slept through 90% of the flight from Canada, this in turn left us squished into the very corners of our already cramped seats; so we were more than grateful to finally touchdown here in Switzerland.
The time change provided some pretty interesting bedtime antics…Tarn slept through the first two nights beautifully, then on the third night decided that he was still functioning on Canadian time. In short, his lively chatter kept us awake into the wee hours of the morning!
After the first weekend, spent on the ski slopes, we’ve passed most of our time here eating Swiss chocolate, drinking tea and coffee, practicing our Swiss-German, showing Tarn off to my relatives (my parents are Swiss) and generally just reacquainting ourselves with this gloriously old country.
We’ve particularly enjoyed ‘buggy-ing’ and biking around the narrowly winding streets, watching spring breathe life back into the rolling countryside nestled amongst the close-knit villages.
Anyway, provided we survive the somewhat hectic motorways over here, my next instalment should find us back home safely in New Zealand trying to catch the last remnants of what we’ve been told, has been a phenomenal summer.

Nicola says ...
the plane can be a challenge but when he hits two you will be paying for the additonal seat!
