Very light, low cost and full featured

Baby is now 6.5 months and has used this since birth (6 weeks prem). He seems content in the seat and usually sleeps well on journeys. We hadn't considered the Protect as Mountain Buggy are known for buggies not car safety, but having looked at all the others we could find, and listened to lots of advice from sellers, we found that this one fitted the bill perfectly: It's almost identical to a number of other well known manufacturer ones, but lighter and better value (it has exactly the same mouldings as our friends' ones, but with different buggy clips). I'm not sure what some other reviews are complaining about with the buckle being stiff - it's the same part as several other manufacturers use. We also had lots of advice to go for a certain competitor seat due to the five point harness offering the best protection - I pointed out to the store owner that the Protect also had this feature for half the price and he was surprised, and has since started stocking the Protect as a firm favourite.
The hood is a good size and less flimsy than others, and the covers can be removed easily for washing. We use both in the seatbelt and on isofix, and both are easy to use once practised. The weight is one of the best features - sure you can lift any carseat in the store, but add a 15lb baby and you start to appreciate saving a few pounds on the seat itself!
A couple of downsides that dropped it a star: Firstly a minor one - tensioning the straps needs a bit of muscle - they are easily sorted inside the seat around the baby, but the friction on the straps under the seat make pulling the harness adjuster hard work - not sure why as again it's the same seat shell and straps as other manufacturers use. Secondly a more major one (mentioned by someone else too) - there's no information or indication when to adjust the straps or remove inserts - I get that this can't be based purely on age or weight, but some guidance based upon development or growth indicators should be provided, otherwise many users could find their child isn't as safe as they could be.

My son is three and a half months old now and he we have been using this capsule since we left the hospital. I was really excited about this capsule, however unfortunately I have been really disappointed with many aspects of it.
The most frustrating and concerning daily issue is that the straps always seem to become uneven and when tightened, one will become too tight while the other is still too loose. We are constantly trying to readjust the splitter plate at the back which is stressful and frustrating at the best of times.
I am also hugely disappointed in Mountain Buggy, as the manual's information feels basic at best, it does not provide any guidance on when to remove the infant insert and lumbar support to ensure that baby is safe and comfortable, or in my opinion adequately describe the way baby should fit into the seat (for example, removing the lumbar support affects the angle baby sits at, but there is no information on judging the safety or appropriateness of this as baby grows).
I would not buy this capsule if I had my choice again and probably won't even keep it for baby number two in the future.
