Hi, I bought this a few weeks ago and installed on the weekend. The stroller board on its own is amazing quality and when my grand daughter is old I am sure will have a lot of fun times. However, the stroller board when connected my granddaughters head nearly touches the bar (with her helmet on touched ) and when going on a bumpy track continually hits the pram, she is only 20 months so I am sure this is made for toddlers much taller than her?
disappointing quality control & design

When this product arrived the grip tape on the board was misaligned leaving a lip which was prone to peeling off one side. It also had a number of air bubbles. Disappointing quality control from a brand like this. They sent out a new grip tape which I applied myself.
Also, there is too much play in the upright steering pole which in my mind is potentially dangerous as it wiggles around from side to side and front to back. I was told that this was due to the design of the pole being able to pull out for so it could break down for transport. I feel that its poor design and a good design should be able to pull out and be stable when in place.
Daughter loves it - we are very disappointed

Hi
We purchased a free rider scooter for my daughter for Christmas.
It arrived with the deck grip peeling at the top - which I had read about in your product reviews.
Since then, 2 of the wheels have fallen off & we have lost a screw / nut from the steering column. fortunately, I have a handy husband with well stocked garage ....but we are really disappointed with the quality control of this scooter. We won’t be recommending this to our friends & family....
Awesome little scooter!

Our 2 1/2 year old boy loves his new scooter! We have a 1 year old and a newborn so this is the perfect solution to transporting all 3 in the Mountain Buggy Duet as we have the scooter clipped on the back, one in the stroller seat and the baby in the bassinet attachment - so great!
Great for little feet!

I bought this instead of a standard scooter and I am so pleased that I did. The fact that it doubles up as a stroller board is an added bonus. my son is not yet 2 and already he’s got the hang of it. I also bought the Unirider which we both love!
Bon concept

Very interesting and useful

We have a newborn and a 2 1/2 yo. The board is pretty and sturdy. The only problem is it restricts a lot the maneuvering of the stroller. Also, our kid's head keeps bumping on the stroller's handlebar... Besides this, I highly recommend it (it's a head-turner as well haha)
Hoped it would save us getting a double buggy

I bought this for my 2year old daughter so she could ride behind the urban jungle buggy so when our newborn arrived she would be happier to give up the seat to him. She enjoys the scooter but doesn't really want it attached and it is quite heavy and difficult to manoeuvre compare . Our free rider attachment is not easy to use (it may be faulty) and the scooter fell off once!
For its weight MtB should have made it suitable for an adult too.
The other design flaw is you can't lie the seat flat or have the handle on behind a carrycot so it's not suitable for a newborn and toddler after all.
Easy to use

Pros and cons

I was meaning to buy a scooter for my son, so it worked out that I could get this two in one. It is convenient that it can connect to many different types of strollers. The cons however are that it's hard to walk when the scooter is on the stroller; I sort of have to go on one side and push with one hand. Also, I can't recline the stroller seat when the scooter is attached.
Great concept!

Purchased to complete our Duet stroller for after baby #3. Just took it out today with all 3 kids (age 3.5, 21 months, and 1 month). Impressed with how well the stroller still steered with this on it. My 3.5 year old loved riding on it. I don't think I would want to use this on a single stroller because it's so long and you have the handle that comes up high, but it's great on the duet because there's a little extra room for me to walk to the side without tripping up on it. It will take a while for my daughter to learn to steer when riding it on it's own, but she loves it so far and feels like a "big kid".

I bought this a month ago and have used it a couple of times. The kids enjoy it is but it does feel pretty cheap and the grip tape is coming up a bit already. There's no brake on it either
Handy but awkward

My 2 year old loves using the board, but it is pretty awkward to walk around. You need to walk to one side, and I don't find that overly easy as it's heavier with the two kids to push.
But thankfully it's really easy to pop on and off the connector, or fold up which is a big bonus.
Great Adaptability

Bought for my 3 year old as I wanted to stop using my bulky double buggy (not MB)..he loves having the independence of using the freerider as a scooter then when he gets tired he enjoys the 'free ride'! Using the freerider with my MB swift does affect the handling of the buggy. You also have to walk to the side, but on the whole was a great purchase. The novelty of the lights on the wheels was a winner with my son. Initially I was skeptical about the steering of the freerider as the handle doesn't turn, but the tilt/lean of the board is very intuitive and he picked it up quickly

I purchased the new Freerider recently along with the Joey basket for my Mountain Buggy Duet as i don't have a car and i needed a pram that would be versatile enough to use with my 3 children to go to Kinder, shopping or to the park and be able to use on public transport and I CAN!! It's amazing i loved my Duet before but now its a travel machine! My daughters love the new Freerider both on the Duet and riding it around the park and the Joey basket has so much room for all my shopping and its so sturdy. I'm always getting glances (even from the mums and dads with the bugaboo donkey :-P) and people stopping me to check out the pram. All in all im VERY glad i purchased a Mountain Buggy, thank you Mountain Buggy for making such an awesome Pram with Fantastic accessories :-) !

I bought this to use with my 2.5 year old to give him a rest in long walks but it is awkward to push and I have to walk to the side of it, but on the up side it's a great scooter when not attached to the pram
Poor Quality

I am a massive fan of Mountain Buggy so I am saddened to have to give this product such a poor review. The first free rider stroller board that arrived was damaged (plastic base cracked and grip tape on base scuffed), the replacement stroller board arrived and got damaged after our first outing! The grip tape ripped! Although the stroller board appears sturdy, the parts seem to be of poor quality. I am desperately hoping this product will last me at least a year! As it is designed for toddlers you would think that the product would be able to withstand some wear and tear. Negatives for me - heavy (as a scooter on its own so not as easy for toddler to manoeuvre), quite long so when attached to pram you need to walk slightly to the side to avoid kicking it as you walk, plastic on base not strong, poor quality grip tape, cannot lower pram to sleeping position when board in use. Positives - I like how it folds up and attaches to pram when not in use, light up wheels, easy to attach and use.
