TIGHT

tighten the carrier so that your child is held close to you, as this will be more comfortable for you both.

top testing tip: lean forward slightly, your child should stay close to your body and not move away from you.

IN VIEW

when carrying an infant you should be able to see your child's face at all times.

top testing tip: check that there is no fabric obstructing your view of your child.

CLOSE ENOUGH TO KISS

your child should be positioned high up on your body when carried, with his / her head as close to your chin as comfortable.

top testing tip: tilt your head forward, you should be able to kiss your child on the head.

KEEP CHIN OFF CHEST

your child should never be curled so that their chin is forced into their chest, as this can restrict their airways.

top testing tip: the gap between your child's chin and chest should be at least the width of one finger.

SUPPORTED BACK

a slightly curved 'c-shaped' spine is the ideal natural position for a growing child.

top testing tip: use a mirror to check that your child's side profile is 'c-shaped'.

1. close enough to kiss
wear your child high up on your torso

2. centered
make sure that the juno carrier and your child are centered on your torso. 

3. leg positioning
check that your child's leg positioning is even on both sides 

4. shoulder straps
ensure that the shoulder straps are pulled evenly tight. Check the positioning of the shoulder strap buckles, they should be positioned somewhere in the area under your arms and not high up on your back. 

5. waistband
the waistband should be pulled as tight as is comfortable with the buckle positioned above your belt line in the small of your back. 

6. sternum strap
for optimum carrying comfort, make sure that the sternum strap is positioned between your shoulder blades and that it is loose enough that there is no tension.

 

 

FRONT FACE OUT

6 - 18 months

1. close enough to kiss
wear your child high up on your torso

2. clear airways
make sure that your child is old enough to support his own head and neck, and that he is long enough that his mouth sits above the front carrier panel comfortably.

3. centered
make sure that the juno carrier and your child are centered on your torso.

4. supported spine
position your child's hips and bottom at least 2cm / 1" away from your torso, with knees sitting close to where the shoulder straps connect to the front panel and hips pushed forward. This naturally curves the spine and lifts the knees high up towards the hips.

5. shoulder straps
ensure that the shoulder straps are pulled evenly tight. Check the positioning of the shoulder strap buckles, they should be positioned somewhere in the area under your arms and not high up on your back. 

6. waistband
the waistband should be pulled as tight as is comfortable with the buckle positioned above your belt line in the small of your back.

7. sternum strap
for optimum carrying comfort, make sure that the sternum strap is positioned between your shoulder blades and that it is loose enough that there is no tension.

 

 

 

HIP CARRYING MODE

6 - 24 months

check that your child's leg positioning is even on both sides

3. shoulder straps
ensure that the shoulder straps are crossed over your back and pulled tight for support.

4. waistband
the waistband should be pulled as tight as is comfortable with the buckle positioned above your belt line. 

5. hip carrying comfort
in this carrying mode wear the juno and your child on either your left or right hip, whichever is most comfortable. 

 

 

BACK CARRYING MODE

6 - 48 months
6.5 - 20kg / 14.3 - 44lbs

wear your child high up on your back so that weight is distributed more comfortably across your core and your child's airways are kept clear at all times.

2. centered
make sure that the juno carrier and your child are centered on your back.  

3. leg positioning
check that your child's leg positioning is even on both sides

4. shoulder straps
ensure that the shoulder straps are pulled evenly tight. Check the positioning of the shoulder strap buckles, they should be positioned somewhere in the area under your arms and not high up the front of your torso. 

5. waistband
the waistband should be pulled as tight as is comfortable with the buckle positioned above your belt line.

6. sternum strap 
for optimum carrying comfort, make sure that the sternum strap is positioned below your collarbone and that it is loose enough that there is no tension.
